May 30 at the Bluebird was a classic Friday night out, with three tech house artists ready to get the bass bumping and the weekend started. Maro opened first, energizing the crowd immediately. Her warmth and engagement (even letting a few fans into the cube with her) elevated partygoers until she handed off the table to second opener, Rello. By the time he took stage, the theater was filling with dancers in every corner, from the pit to the stage. The transition between artists was seamless. Rello’s intense focus could be felt through the speakers, as each bass line and beat just forced you dance. As the energy of the room started to peak, Westend, the New York based headliner, entered the cube. Westend took this peak energy and expanded. Starting off with new release “Freakytime” and playing other favorites like “Rhythm Machine,” Westend had fans in a tech house induced dance trance for the remainder of the evening.
